In Memory of Ted Greene
(The Chord Chemist) - Legendary Jazz Guitarist
Sept. 26, 1946 - July 26, 2005

He was my teacher and "friend"....

This web page was developed to honor Ted
with mp3 sound recordings, photos and lesson sheets that I
have been amazingly grateful to have been blessed by over the years

A special "Thank You" to Bob Barry
for the use of his photos of Ted

I will miss Ted greatly!
I truly loved that man, he was one of the kindest and most generous persons I have ever known.

For over 20 years (on and off) I had studied with Ted and he was such an outstanding and amazingly intellectual person and we would talk for hours after my lesson was over about many non-musical related topics and his passion and convictions always prevailed!

I sadly regret that just 3 days prior to his passing I had Ted on my mind and was going to call him and see if he had any available spots for a quick lesson and became distracted and did not make the call…

The music community has suffered a great loss...

"OFFICIAL" Ted Greene Video Archive page on YouTube!

Barbara asked me to build this new digital shrine and we want it to be a place where many new people can discover the MUSICAL GENIUS OF TED...

Please kindly help get the word out about the new youtube page.

Many folks have been re-posting the videos from tedgreene.com and from their private collection which is awesome but this will be a place where hopefully many unseen RARE video clips will be housed.

MP3 SOUND LIBRARY -
I have many hours of Guitar Lessons with Ted on cassette tape and am in the process of digitally archiving them and will continue to add to the library for those who "miss his voice" and for those who never had the honor to meet Ted.

*The cassette tapes were seriously plagued with "tape hiss" and I did my best to reduce some of the background noise with a great Pro Tools plug-in called BIAS SoundSoap...

Chord Enrichment/Addition 3_16_04 (playing time 6:39)
Secondary Dominant Chords are the topic of the day (A.K.A. 5 of's)... As always, Ted incorporated humor with academia and the chord progression to "Home On The Range" as the example.
Chord Enrichment/Addition/Substitution 3_16_04 (playing time 6:49)
This is a prime example of Ted's pure genius as well as just being really funny!
Here we explore harmonic concepts as Ted uses "Mary Had A little Lamb" as the object lesson.
Ted even makes mention of his book "Chord Chemistry" here in this epic sound clip!!!
"The Flintsones" 3_23_04 (playing time 5:20)
This is the perfect illustration of how much fun it was to spend time with Ted!
Here Ted asks me to goof around a little bit and play the lead lines to the Flintsones whilst he adds "Companion Chords" and then the jamming begins...
LESSON SHEETS -
My very first lesson with Ted was on January 13, 1983 and respectively my second lesson was on January 31, 1983.I have been quite fortunate to still have these sheets archived for safe keeping after all these years, yes the pages have yellowed over time but their condition is surprisingly excellent.

**I had been playing rock, metal and classical for about 7 years and Ted thought my technique and comprehension was advanced enough to grasp the harmonic and chordal concepts presented to me! (although I did not have a clue...LOL)
